: The salary range for this position is CAD $54.16/Hr. - CAD $77.86/Hr. Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Risk Management and functionally to the Executive Director of Risk Management and Infection Prevention and Control, the Manager, Risk and Patient Safety leads clinical and operational risk management and oversees the Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS) at PHC. This role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring departmental and project budgets, quality improvement initiatives, and policies to enhance patient care and employee safety while meeting PHC standards.
What You Bring:
**Education**
Master’s degree in a related Clinical Health Care profession, Health Care Administration or other related discipline plus seven (7) to ten (10) years’ recent, related experience in progressive leadership roles with responsibility for leading risk management and client relations issues or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Skills and Abilities**
- Risk Coordination: Effectively manage claims and collaborate to minimize risk, enhance quality, and improve safety for PHC.
- Risk Assessments: Conduct timely risk assessments in response to requests.
- Communication Skills: Utilize verbal, written, and technological skills to provide advice and information effectively.
- Consultation: Consult with leaders on risk issues for timely resolution.
- Judgment and Sensitivity: Use superior judgment and political acumen when handling sensitive information.
- Negotiation Skills: Persuade and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Physical Capability: Capable of performing job duties effectively.

**Your Day to Day**:
- Leadership and Support: Guide senior leaders and staff in implementing risk management strategies to identify and mitigate risks.
- Patient Safety Initiatives: Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement patient safety policies, monitor safety perceptions, and prepare business cases for new initiatives.
- Project Leadership: Lead patient safety projects, oversee project teams, and supervise staff.
- Risk Assessment Coordination: Provide input into planning and aligning risk assessment processes.
- Complaint Management: Assist in reviewing and responding to escalated complaints to manage risk exposure.
- Incident Review Management: Oversee the Critical Incident Review process, including protocol development and training.
- PSLS Management: Optimize and manage the BC Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS), ensuring alignment with policies and changes.
- Budget Management: Develop and monitor the department’s operating and capital budgets with the Director.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop key performance indicators, monitor safety reports, and provide guidance to clinical leaders.
- Legal and Risk Management: Act as a liaison with legal counsel and insurers, investigate claims, and develop clinical risk registers.
