Successful candidates must be 30 or younger, and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible for hire.Who we are The BC Community Alliance (BCCA) is a local Black-led, community-based, organization, formed in 2019 and registered as a non-profit in 2020, dedicated to addressing the structural inequities created by racism, especially anti-Black racism, within education settings in British Columbia. The organization was born out of a crisis in our community, following a racist bomb threat at a Vancouver high school, Lord Byng Secondary, and recognizing the broad harm that occurred not only to Black students in the school but also felt within the broader community, especially other Black community members. Although the 'Lord Byng incident' was a foundational moment in the formation of the BC Community Alliance, we are more accurately understood as a response to the racism that is felt by many racialized students.Who we’re looking forBC Community Alliance (BCCA) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the growth and maintenance of our organizational finance practices by assisting with financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and contributing to the overall financial health of BCCA. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.What you’ll doMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with organizational policies and procedures - including income, expenses, donations, grants and budgetsAssist in the preparation, monitoring and management of BCCA’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and available resourcesSupport the administration of grants received by the organization, including proposal development, budgeting, compliance and reporting Manage BCCA’s bank accounts, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and AR/AP and payroll activities, ensuring accurate and timely transactionsDevelop, implement and maintain financial policies, procedures and controls to safeguard the oirganization’s assets, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and promote transparency and accountabilityEnsure compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements for nonprofit organizations, including filing annual tax returns and other necessary formsIdentify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiencyCollaborate with team members to implement process improvements and best practicesContinuously seek ways to enhance the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of financial operationsOther duties as assigned What you bringBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related fieldProficiency in financial software and Payroll tools, such as QuickBooks, Excel, Wagepoint and ERP systemsStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate insightsExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysisAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environmentStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenCommitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information What we offer30 hours per week at $30.00/hour - approx. 9 week durationThe opportunity to collaborate with a fun, passionate and growing team ​​Don’t meet all the requirements but still interested in applying for this opportunity?
