Amant supports over 2,200 people in Manitoba with developmental disabilities, autism and acquired brain injury. We are a not-for-profit organization that offers a wide range of supports for adults, children and their families. Reporting to the Director, HRS, the Manager of Compensation and Benefits will oversee all aspects of employee compensation and benefits programs and policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, compliance with regulations, collective agreements, and competitiveness in the job market. In addition, this position is responsible for reviewing and modifying existing programs, ensuring these comply with current legislation, supporting the recruitment process, and managing day-to-day compensation and benefits-related activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
~5+ years of experience in compensation and/or benefits management preferred
~ A solid understanding of HRIS (Human Resource Information System) and payroll software is essential.
~ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate compensation and benefits policies, procedures, and changes to employees and management, combined with excellent organizational and project management skills.
~ Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll processing, benefits, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
~ Knowledge of occupational Health Services (OHS) within a healthcare facility.
~ Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems
~ Experience with employee satisfaction/engagement survey.
~ Extensive knowledge of benefits and compensation programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
~ In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits principles, including salary structure, retirement plans, health benefits, and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with payroll processes, tax regulations, and labour law is crucial.
Analytical skills – ability to analyze data and trends to develop, implement, and evaluate compensation and benefits programs. String numerical and analytical skills are essential for conducting salary surveys, market analysis, and cost-benefits assessments.
Strong people and project management skills
Leadership and team management – strong leadership qualities to effectively manage a team of OHS, compensation, benefits and payroll professionals. Adaptable and flexible to address changing business needs and regulatory requirements.
High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive employee information, compensation data, and payroll records. Compliance with confidentiality and data protection regulations/policies is paramount.
A commitment to delivering high-quality service with professionalism and empathy.
Ensuring Compliance: The Manager will ensure that compensation and benefits programs comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including tax implications, labor laws, and reporting requirements.
Compensation Management, Benefits Administration, Payroll Processing, Compliance and Risk Management, Data Analysis and Reporting, Employee Communication and Education, Team Leadership and Development.
Develop, maintain, and implement compensation and benefits programs and policies, including salary administration and job classification systems.
Manage the salary process to ensure the organization is competitively positioned in the marketplace.
Develop and administer key employee benefits such as retirement plan, medical, dental and vision plans, disability and life insurance.
Provide guidance and advice to human resources staff and management.
Evaluate and modify existing compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures.
Develop and implement new compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures.
Ensure all programs, policies, and procedures comply with current legislation.
Support the HR team with recruitment and talent management activities, incentive, employee wellness, and performance management programs.
Manage daily operations related to compensation and benefits activities.
Amant is a bilingual organization. Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.
