What you'll be doing

The Lighting & Controls Business Development Manager will be instrumental in driving the growth and expansion of our lighting and controls solutions within the market. This role is focused on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and developing initiatives to capture market share in the lighting and controls sector. The ideal candidate will leverage market intelligence to uncover potential clients, forge long-term partnerships, and expand the company’s reach. This position is primarily business development-driven, requiring the candidate to take a proactive approach to generate leads, negotiate contracts, and close deals. Additionally, the role involves working closely with internal teams to create tailored proposals, shape client solutions, and maximize sales revenue through strategic growth initiatives.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & SALES

Lead and execute business development strategies to drive the growth of lighting and controls product solutions.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities for lighting & controls in the commercial, industrial and contractor markets.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders such as architects, engineers, contractors, energy consultants, and facility managers.

Engage directly with existing and potential customers to understand their needs and provide lighting and control solutions that align with their goals.

Provide expert guidance on lighting and control systems, offering tailored solutions for energy-efficient lighting, smart controls, and building automation.

Utilize available energy savings programs to provide customers with the best project ROI and win business.

Collaborate with customers to define project scope, conduct energy audits, and recommend appropriate lighting and controls technologies that meet their needs.

Track and report on sales performance to assigned goals.

Maintaining accurate records of sales leads, opportunity pipeline, and customer interactions in

CRM.

Work closely with the LPM to create and implement targeted campaigns for customer acquisition and retention.

Stay current on the latest trends and products in lighting, controls systems, and energy-saving technologies and/or incentives.

SALES AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Provide product support for the sales team and assist with product selection, system design, and configuration.

Provide energy audit support and work with the sales team to generate proposals that include lighting upgrades and controls.

Assist in developing energy retrofit initiatives utilizing energy savings programs and providing recommendations for energy-efficient lighting upgrades.

Organize and facilitate product demonstrations and training sessions for both internal and external customers.

Oversee the execution of lighting and controls projects and ensure project timelines are met from initial customer engagement to completion as required.

Work with internal teams to coordinate the project management of lighting and controls projects.

Ensure high-quality customer service by addressing any technical or product-related issues during and after project implementation.

Work collaboratively with internal teams (sales, technical, and project management) to drive successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Be able to recommend creative solutions to various issues that may arise.

QUALITY

Ensure understanding and adhere to ISO policies and procedures.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Participate in conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain and participate in professional networks to enhance your knowledge and skills.

Participates on committees and special projects as requested.

What you bring to the table

College diploma preferably in the Electrical or Electronic technician or technologist.

Lighting essentials course or equivalent experience

Good working knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point

Good working knowledge of lighting sources

Working knowledge of lighting controls

Organized and accurate
