This role is crucial in leading interactions and programming with Indigenous communities, ensuring effective relationship-building and support for cultural initiatives.




Responsibilities:



  • Build and maintain relationships between the company and Indigenous communities, ensuring follow-ups are aligned with project requirements and business strategy.
  • Proactively communicate and engage with Indigenous partners, sharing important information to facilitate timely participation and consideration.
  • Conduct research and develop an understanding of key Indigenous communities prior to initial interactions.
  • Support the company's Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) initiatives and contribute to Economic Reconciliation efforts during project execution.
  • Assist project teams in establishing training, contracting, procurement, and employment opportunities with Indigenous communities.
  • Plan and collaborate on major Indigenous events with various company departments.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Indigenous Relations team to develop strategic initiatives.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain to assist Indigenous subcontractors and suppliers with the vendor pre-qualification process.
  • Work with business development teams to align the company’s services with community needs.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, handling sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.



Ideal Candidate Requirements:



  • Diploma or university degree, or equivalent experience with community-based knowledge.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Indigenous or community relations, business development, or project management.
  • Demonstrated cultural and business awareness of Indigenous peoples, particularly in Western Canada.
  • Proven ability to execute effective community engagement strategies and work in cross-cultural settings.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and a proven capacity to be a self-starter.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and strong personal motivation.
  • Experience in preparing proposal content related to Indigenous engagement is an asset.
  • Familiarity with CCAB PAR and APC programs and experience navigating the PAR Certification process is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and current communication platforms.
