We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Infrastructure division and build innovative projects in the transit and transportation sectors, such as roads, highways/freeways, bridges, interchanges, LRTs, BRTs, and airports. **About The Role**:
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, the Indigenous Relations Specialist will lead Indigenous community interactions and programming, including maintaining Indigenous to industry relations, business alignments, documentation, facilitate cultural training. The proponent will manage the master Indigenous contacts database, lead various community engagement initiatives and activities, and coordinate community sponsorship opportunities and event attendance across Graham business units and project teams. The proponent will engage and consult regularly across the Indigenous community within the region to support growth and knowledge sharing across the unceded lands in which Graham delivers projects.
**As an Indigenous Relations Specialist at Graham, you will**:
- Assist in the building of relationships between Graham and Indigenous communities. Maintain these relationships, determining adequate follow up based on project requirements and business strategy.
- Proactively communicate and engage with Indigenous partners to share important information to allow sufficient time for consideration and participation.
- Complete research and develop understanding of key Indigenous communities in advance of initial interactions.
- Support company Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) Initiatives.
- Review and provide recommendations in relation to Economic Reconciliation efforts during project execution.
- Support the project teams with establishing training opportunities, contracting, procurement and employment opportunities.
- Plan events and collaborate with Graham Communications, Talent Management and Regional Managers around major Indigenous events.
- Coordinate with Corporate Indigenous Relations team to determine and develop strategic initiatives.
- Liaise with Supply Chain to assist potential Indigenous subcontractor and suppliers with Graham’s vendor pre-qualification process.
- Proactively work with business development teams to develop business opportunities aligning Graham’s service offering with the community needs.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization including senior executives, clients, and land shareholders.
- Handle sensitive information with integrity and a commitment to confidentiality.
**Qualification/Experience**:
- Diploma training program at a College or technical school, or University degree is required.
- Equivalent experience and community-based knowledge will be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in the field of Indigenous or community relations, business development, or project management.
- Demonstrated Indigenous peoples cultural and business awareness, experience working with communities in Western Canada, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various community members to build lasting relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to execute effective community engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated experience working with people in cross-cultural settings.
- Demonstrated ability to meet firm deadlines with mínimal supervision; proven capacity to be a self-starter.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and strong personal motivation. Experience in preparing proposal content related to Indigenous engagement is an asset.
- Familiarity with the CCAB PAR and APC programs. Experience navigating the assessment process for PAR Certification is an asset.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and current communication platforms.
**Compensation**:
- $92,700 - $120,000
- Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
