About the Role


Nexus Energy Inc. is an electricity retailer backed by an experienced team of energy industry professionals that understand the complexities of Ontario’s wholesale electricity market. As part of its next stage of growth, Nexus is seeking to develop renewable energy generation and storage assets. Nexus is seeking a Project Manager to play a key role in its project execution team. The role of the Project Manager is to plan and manage all aspects of renewable energy generation and storage projects from conception through construction and handover to operations. This role will be based in Nexus’s Toronto office and will require some travel to project sites across Ontario.



What You Will Do


  • Lead and oversee project teams, including internal staff, consultants, contractors, and other third-party partners.
  • Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables that align with business objectives in collaboration with senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Lead project planning and implementation efforts, ensuring clear objectives and timelines.
  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks to clients and senior management for effective mitigation.
  • Manage change orders to prevent unfunded scope creep and ensure project costs align with approved budgets.
  • Proactively manage changes and resolve conflicts as they occur during projects.
  • Meet project deadlines and deliverables by managing the workload of various resources assigned to projects.
  • Collaborate with the owner’s engineer and site representatives to ensure project delivery, prioritizing safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee contract procurement, negotiations, and all commercial aspects of projects.
  • Establish, develop, and expand business relationships within the industry.
  • Prepare and manage project reports, including progress updates, risk registers, cost status, and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and files.
  • Travel as required for project meetings with contractors, stakeholders, utilities, and permitting agencies.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.



What You Will Bring


Minimum Qualifications/skills

  • Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of renewable energy experience in the Canadian and/or United States marketplace.
  • Have experience running full cycle of project management within the Energy systems sector.
  • Have strong skills with Microsoft Office and technical design software.
  • Proven track record of excellence in client relationship development and maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Valid driver’s license


Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Professional Project Management designation (PMP) or other project management credentials.
  • Proven experience in preparing, designing, and procuring materials for electricity generation or storage projects.
  • Experience in community consultations, securing site access and obtaining regulatory approvals, including with Indigenous communities.
  • Familiarity with project financing.
  • Experience overseeing the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of electricity resources.
  • Experience in operating, monitoring, and maintaining electricity resources.
