Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Application Production Support Engineer with experience in .NET and SQL Server to join our team. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining mission-critical applications, ensuring high availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, an aptitude for problem-solving, and a commitment to ensuring seamless application functionality in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Production Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide Level 2/3 support for .NET and SQL Server-based applications, ensuring timely resolution of issues to minimize system downtime.
- Investigate and troubleshoot incidents, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address critical production issues promptly and ensure stability across applications.
- Monitoring & Maintenance:
- Monitor application performance and system health using available tools, creating alerts to proactively detect and address issues.
- Conduct regular application and database health checks, ensuring data integrity and optimal system performance.
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities, applying patches, upgrades, and bug fixes to production systems as necessary.
- Incident & Problem Management:
- Record, track, and document incident resolutions in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Analyze incident trends and recommend proactive measures to prevent recurring issues.
- Create and maintain documentation for known issues, solutions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Database Management:
- Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures to enhance database performance and application efficiency.
- Perform routine database backups, recovery, and maintenance activities, ensuring data security and integrity.
- Assist in database performance tuning, indexing, and troubleshooting for SQL Server instances.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with development teams to transition code changes to production, including deployment and verification.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on issue status, root cause analyses, and resolution timelines.
- Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to address network, server, and environment-related issues impacting applications.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in post-incident reviews to identify gaps in processes and propose improvements for enhanced support operations.
- Develop automation scripts or tools to improve efficiency in monitoring, deployment, and incident management.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging .NET and SQL Server technologies and best practices, applying knowledge to support tasks.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in application production support, with a focus on .NET applications and SQL Server.
- Strong hands-on experience with .NET frameworks (C#, ASP.NET, MVC) and SQL Server (queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in .NET technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug .NET applications.
- Strong SQL Server skills, including writing complex SQL queries, performance tuning, and database maintenance.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, IIS, and experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, or Dynatrace).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and their impact on application performance.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize issues, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their impact on application support.
- Experience with ITIL practices and incident management systems (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA).
