Are you an experienced Project Controls Specialist ready for a dynamic role in the mining and infrastructure sector? We're seeking a talented individual based in Toronto, ON, to take on a full-time, permanent role focused on cost control, planning, and scheduling for major engineering and construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work across diverse projects in mining, industrial, and infrastructure environments while advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert guidance, training, auditing, and support for cost, planning, and scheduling across multiple projects.
  • Standards & Procedures: Review and contribute to project standards, guidelines, and procedures, ensuring robust schedule and cost systems.
  • Client & Management Interface: Collaborate directly with management and clients on specific cost, planning, and scheduling objectives.
  • Project Controls Setup: Develop project control guidelines within a Project Execution Plan, and implement systems for earned value management, cash flow, cost, revenue, forecasting, and scheduling.
  • Scheduling & Cost Control: Establish project schedules, create proposal schedules, and manage associated costing systems.
  • Proposal Support: Support business development, contributing to proposals and client presentations.
  • Project Audits: Conduct audits to ensure project cost, planning, and scheduling functions meet quality standards.
  • Training Development: Design and implement training programs on cost, planning, and scheduling.
  • Performance Review & Talent Acquisition: Conduct performance reviews, interview potential hires, and recommend employment decisions.
  • Training & Mentorship: Develop and lead training sessions for new hires and on-the-job skill-building.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 10-15 years in EPC/EPCM projects, with expertise in cost, planning, and scheduling or project controls.
  • Education: Degree in a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Strong familiarity with Earned Value Management, and advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft applications, and Visio.
  • Analytical Ability: Skilled in producing, reading, and manipulating schedules and scheduling reports.
  • Cost Engineering Knowledge: Applied understanding of cost engineering and controls; supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Project Lifecycle: Experience across all project phases (proposal, initiation, execution, closeout).
  • Work Environment: Home office and on-site experience required.
  • Project Control Expertise: Deep understanding of control requirements for Studies through EPCM.
  • Independent & Motivated: Self-driven with a proactive approach to increasing responsibilities.
