We are currently seeking a qualified Project Controls Specialist to join our team, based out of Toronto, ON. The successful candidate will be responsible for cost control, planning, and scheduling for engineering and/or construction projects in the mining and infrastructure markets.

Responsibilities


The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for:



  • Providing technical guidance, training, auditing, and staffing support for cost, planning, and scheduling on projects;
  • Reviews and provides input into technical standards, guidelines, and procedures for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules and cost systems;
  • Interfaces with designated management and client counterparts for specific costing, planning, and scheduling tasks;
  • Sets project controls guidelines and responsibilities within a Project Execution Plan, as well as implements tools and systems to effectively manage, control, and report on earned value management, cashflow, cost, revenue, forecasting, and schedule for projects;
  • Sets up schedules (including schedule preparation plan and basis) and proposal schedules plus all associated costing controls and systems;
  • Supports business development with proposal efforts and provides input to proposals and client presentations;
  • Audits projects to ensure the quality of cost, planning, and scheduling functions;
  • Develops and implements cost, planning, and scheduling training programs;
  • Conducts personnel performance reviews when delegated;
  • Participates in interviews for potential candidates and makes recommendations for employment decisions;
  • Participates in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the-job training for specific processes and practices;

Requirements


To be considered for this role, you must have:



  • 10 to 15 years of experience in EPC/EPCM projects in cost, planning, and scheduling and/or project controls management;
  • College and/or University Degree in a related field;
  • Experienced with "Earned Value" Management and Project Management Software;
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Applications & Visio;
  • Ability to produce, read, and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports;
  • Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost controls. Supervision of assigned personnel is an asset;
  • Experience in all phases of project lifecycle (proposal, initiation, execution, closeout);
  • Home Office and Site experience;
  • Must understand control requirements for Studies through EPCM Project Controls Management;
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision;
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take on increasing responsibility;

Compensation


The estimated annual salary for this position is between $90,000 and $120,000 CAD, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.
