Your new role

We are seeking a skilled Building Automation Technician to join our team in London, ON. The ideal candidate will perform common duties in the service industry on showcase buildings across the London region. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC equipment, mechanical components, and control strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and team members, ensuring effective communication.
  • Develop and implement project and service strategies to meet annual performance goals and objectives.
  • Plan, develop, implement, mentor, and lead appropriate field team members in support of the BAS Manager.
  • Contribute to the interviewing and hiring of experienced individuals, as well as their training and development.
  • Support the growth of the BAS service clientele.
  • Deliver construction project scope and service-related deliverables.
  • Program and create graphics for HVAC equipment via software, verifying system performance.
  • Integrate building automation software with third-party systems via network connections and integration.
  • Simulate sequences of operations to verify the proper operating parameters of systems and their performance using necessary software.
  • Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage power equipment and systems, network communications, peripherals, valves, actuators, relays, and sensors during commissioning.
  • Commission BAS systems, verify end-to-end performance, and report/resolve anomalies.
  • Provide commissioning verification checklists for the appropriate Project Manager throughout the commissioning process.
  • Verify the installation and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems related to the BAS.
  • Perform inspections, tests, adjustments, and evaluations of low-voltage electronic components and assemblies in accordance with manufacturer specifications and tolerances.
  • Utilize technical manuals and written instructions to calibrate electrical and electronic equipment and instruments.
  • Complete service reports and PM checklists on service calls and preventative maintenance site visits.
  • Assist in preparing specifications and reports for related projects by collecting and compiling data as deemed appropriate by the Project or BAS Manager.
  • Mentor and train employees effectively.


What you'll need to succeed

Qualifications:

  • Technician diploma, Technologist diploma, or Engineering degree in a related technological field to BAS.
  • Proven ability to self-learn and transfer knowledge to team members to enhance overall team awareness of existing and new technologies.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of related experience.
  • Certification in Tridium Niagara AX – N4.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and mechanical components and their relation to control strategies and theories.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with BAS system installations.
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple system integration strategies and applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work in a process-driven environment.
  • Superior time management and multitasking abilities
