Position Summary

This position develops and maintains the online presence of Travel Manitoba, working with both external consultants and internal teams to leverage digital technology and deliver outstanding results; supports the development of the digital strategy, execution, and optimization across all online channels.


The Ideal Candidate

Travel Manitoba is seeking a Senior Specialist, Digital Experience with a strong background in digital marketing and a passion for leveraging digital technology to drive business results. They should be experienced in developing and maintaining online platforms, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Corporation's digital experience. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of digital strategies and be able to execute and optimize campaigns across various online channels. Additionally, strong project management and analytical and problem solving skills are essential, a the candidate will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of digital initiatives and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.


Responsibilities

  • Updates and maintains all Travel Manitoba digital properties (TravelManitoba.com - English and French, microsites, mobile applications, and Visitor Information Centre technology) to ensure information is up-to-date and reflects current branding, messaging and partnership advertising opportunities that have been sold.
  • Acts as lead and project manager (with input from Director, Marketing, and larger Travel Manitoba strategy) on regular and major website refreshes/redesigns including research, RFP review, site architecture and content recommendations; and full review of all site content and function before go-live. 
  • Ensures all Travel Manitoba web properties contain current and accurate information with an ongoing focus on SEO, digital best practices, mobile optimization and more.
  • Works with the Content Marketing team to ensure blog content is SEO optimized and to provide trending and analytics information to support optimal content ideation and development. 
  • Ensures all Travel Manitoba digital properties remain up to date to required privacy and accessibility standards. Oversees and manages first and third-party data management (Cookies) etc.
  • Ensures digital tools and websites are performing with optimum functionality and usability, including leading A/B testing, Experiments, data from Google Analytics 4, implementing UX/UI principles to test and optimize design and makes recommendations for content.
  • Works closely with the content marketing team for content creation, enhancements and implementation.
  • Leverages data analytics and visualization tools beyond Google Analytics 4, such as Tableau or Power BI, to emphasize data-driven decision-making.  
  • Assists in keeping Travel Manitoba at the forefront of the digital space by staying up to date with digital and industry trends such as AI, AR/VR, blockchain, SGO (Generative Search Optimization); creates recommendations for future development based on industry research.
  • Works with the Hunt/Fish consultant to offer support in the maintenance of huntfishmanitoba.ca and all Master Angler/Master Hunter elements, including Master Angler App.
  • Works with third-party companies to create, integrate, and maintain specialized technological elements of Travel Manitoba’s digital infrastructure.
  • Adapts web content and information for new digital formats, when required.
  • Works with the Specialist, Database and Information Systems in troubleshooting and support for technological assets in the Visitor Information Centre. 
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Participates in recruitment activities and assists with the training of new staff as required.
  • Takes on supporting roles for other staff as necessary. 
  • Supports mobile application development.
  • Supports Travel Manitoba partners with recommendations on web development and management, when requested. 
  • Provides input into the Digital Marketing Budget.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in marketing and/or website management or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Expert understanding, knowledge and experience of web-based technologies and architecture, particularly web delivery, development and reporting tools and infrastructure
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple short and long-term projects
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience working with third-party consultants and internal teams
  • Mobile marketing and mobile apps experience (Android, iOS Platforms)
  • Advanced skills in data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. Google Analytics 4, Tableau, Power BI) and the ability to interpret digital metrics to drive strategy.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and legal compliance related to digital content (privacy, accessibility, 1st/3rd party data management, cookies)
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, including obtaining relevant certifications (e.g. Google Analytics, AI, UX/UI design, consumer trends, cybersecurity).
  • Knowledge of Manitoba’s tourism industry is an asset
