We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Business Development Manager to drive our growth and expand our market presence across North America. This role is ideal for a visionary leader with a proven track record in technical business development, especially within B2B retail sectors including grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants. As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and developing innovative strategies to scale our operations and reach new markets. This role can be based anywhere in Ontario.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Growth: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth and market expansion for Rivercity Innovations’ IoT solutions.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, potential clients, and new business opportunities in the IoT space.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders including Health Inspectors, food and drug safety and traceability Regulatory Boards.
  • Client Engagement: Lead high-level negotiations and sales efforts to secure major contracts and long-term agreements with enterprise clients.
  • Product Positioning: Collaborate with the product and marketing teams to ensure our IoT solutions are effectively positioned and communicated in the market.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute targeted sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Build a high performing regional sales team as the business grow. Mentor and lead a team of business development professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve individual and team goals.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report on business development metrics, market trends, and competitive landscape to senior leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development, with a strong background and established network in B2B technical sales in the large retail or pharmaceutical sectors or a related industry. Experience with IoT technologies is a plus.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in securing and managing high-value client relationships and contracts.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute innovative business strategies that drive growth and market penetration.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and guiding successful teams.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in market analysis, competitive intelligence, and business forecasting.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
