Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Design Coordinator. The Design Coordinator will work closely with the Interior Designers, Architects, Mechanical Engineers, Vendors, Suppliers, City Officials, Director of Operations/Pre-construction and the CEO to coordinate the design process from the initial point of contact to the final stage of permitting and coordination.

Who You Are:

  • possess 2-4 years of experience within the commercial construction industry.
  • possess the ability to read and interpret construction and millwork drawings.
  • Should have a background in Design or Architecture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Bachelor's degree in Design/Architecture or a related field is preferred
  • Experience in Construction management is an asset.

Design Responsibilities:

  • Site checks with client and development / design team.
  • Aid in putting together schedule C (landlord work schedule) for lease.
  • Understand client budget and scope of work required.
  • Determine which disciplines are required based on the scope of work.
  • Source out the A-team specific to the project in hand.
  • Send out tenders to design team and validate quotes.
  • Prepare contract documentation for client and vendors.
  • Coordinate design with mechanical requirements.
  • Support multi-disciplinary team in developing designs, schematic sketches/diagrams, and documentation drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of design presentations.
  • Work with interior design team to create color and finish palettes, research finish materials and products.
  • Oversee design progress against schedule and budget.
  • Review, negotiate and recommend for approval/disapproval on design change orders.
  • Perform constructive reviews conforming design to prime contract requirements and proposal commitments.
  • Coordinate design submittals for owner’s review and approval.
  • Create, monitor, and manage requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with team members within the project team.
  • Attend all design and coordination meetings.
  • Prepare documents for permitting.
