Job Summary:  Amental health peer mentor help Mental Health Services of Student Life with their mental health initiatives especially peer support.

Nature of work: 
This position reports to the manager of Mental Health Services of Student Life.
A mental health peer mentor listens and provides social and emotional support to students (mentees). A Peer Mentor can also help students practice various skills related to mental health, wellbeing and self-care (, mindfulness routines). They also participate in outreach initiatives around campus to provide education, and resources around mental health issues

Responsibilities/accountabilities: 

Scheduleand meet with students (mentees) 1:1 for support Assist Student Mental Health Services with mental health awareness campaignsand initiatives (min 1 a month) Assist Student Mental Health Services with the facilitation of wellnessworkshops and groups Facilitation of peer-led support groups Work in person at the university for 80% of their hours

Required Skills: 

Haveprior experience in a helping role (mental health or vulnerable populationpreferred) Demonstrates emotional intelligence and strong communication skills Evidence of resilience, maturity, and self-reflection capacity

Required Education: 

Bean undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in well-being, mentalhealth, and peer support

* Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience: 

List minimum experience required for this position. If specific qualifications are more preferred than required for the position, preferred language may be used.
