Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. Professional and Part-Time Learning (PPL) requires a **part-time facilitator** to teach a section of a course entitled “**_Addictions & Mental Health: Theory and Practice (SSW 4580_**_)”. _This course will be **delivered online**.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PART-TIME FACILITATOR APPLICANTS:
Part-time recruitment is ongoing and is dependent on when courses are being taught and the need for faculty to teach. Part-Time Facilitators teach up to 6 hours per week. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
**THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF DURHAM COLLEGE PART-TIME FACILITATORS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO**:
1. Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;
2. Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
3. Effectively using educational technologies to support learning as well as managing and posting grades;
4. Develop curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;
5. Ensuring that all course content is current and relevant;
6. Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and

7. Working effectively with students, the program team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL MEET OR EXCEED THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Minimum of five years of recent experience that relates directly to the topic being taught;
2. Holds a Master’s degree in Social Work, Education or a related field;
3. Holds current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or is actively working in this capacity.

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving and organizational and time management skills;
6. Experienced in the use of online technologies.

7. Self-motivated and independent worker with a track record in meeting deadlines.
