Position: Human Resources Summer Student

Location: Oakville, ON
Placement Term: 4 months

Expected Start Date: May 2024

Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day administration of Human Resources (“HR”) services including supporting staffing, recruitment, and training administrative processes; providing administrative support to the HR team; maintaining departmental records.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

Assist with the administration of the staffing process, which may include, preparing new hire packages, conducting new hire orientation and exit interview processes. Maintain timely and accurate employee information. Communication with third parties to support staffing levels through promoting opportunities and collaborating with schools. Provide administrative support and coordination for the HR team, including confidential correspondence. Maintain employee and departmental files and record keeping systems including electronic files, scanning, records retention, follow-ups, and confidential files. Coordinate and support employee related events. Assist in the coordination and implementation of various HR projects and assignments. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a relevant Human Resource Management program, or equivalent. A co-op placement to graduate from his/her current program of enrolment is an asset. General knowledge of HR practices, including completion of post-secondary HR coursework is required. Understanding of the high degree of confidentiality required in a human resource role. Proven computer skills, with emphasis on the Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Adobe. Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and listening with a focus on high level customer service. Highly organized, ability to multitask, with strong attention to detail and time management. Ability to work within a team environment and follow instructions provided in order to meet timelines. 

Working Conditions/ Physical Effort:

Able to perform in a fast-paced environment. Primary work location is Dufferin Construction Head Office
