Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Climate Adaptation Solution Director to join our team in Canada. Climate adaptation is an area in which Arcadis is recognized as an industry leader and represents a cornerstone of our business as we ensure that our communities continue to thrive in the face of climate uncertainty by providing full climate adaptation measures across the life cycle of any asset from risk mapping, vulnerability assessments, and community-based resilience plans to the design and engineering of flood defense systems and stormwater infrastructure. 

Our longstanding core disciplines include without limitation: climate risk & mitigation/adaptation planning, design and engineering of integrated flood resilience solutions, hydraulic design and construction, dams and river basins, resilient ports & waterways, including berths, jetties, quay walls and break waters, providing integrated solutions, with a focus on safety, economic and environmental progress. 

This is a senior, market-facing leadership position within our Resilience Global Business Area and partners with sector, account, and sales leaders to realize profitable growth in climate adaptation in Canada. 

Role accountabilities:

The Climate Adaptation Solution Director reports to the Canada Sales Director with dotted-line collaboration to the Climate Adaptation Global Solutions Director. They should have a deep understanding of Arcadis leading technical solutions and the ability to develop and deliver compelling future-focused offerings to our clients, with a strong ability to lead and motivate by influence. A strong business acumen, understanding of P&L and fundamentals of running a successful professional services business, and recognition as a collaborative leader both internally/externally are essential.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the entire client development team to execute on our Resilience Climate Adaptation go to market strategy, and with our account and project teams to deliver an unparalleled client experience, with sound service delivery where we have made every project count. They will collaborate with the Canadian leadership team to: 

develop and maintain a deep understanding of our clients needs in the areas of emerging issues, evolving market trends, and regulatory drivers assess position of our competitors develop industry-leading insights to drive development of differentiated value-added technical solution strategies in alignment with our global strategy.

The Climate Adaptation Solution Director will evolve and grow our focus on Climate Adaptation by effectively supporting our technical and client teams, ensuring in-depth understanding of the market needs, capturing data, insights and generating discussion that drive the client experience. Integral to this role is the capability to bring together relevant stakeholders and be able to communicate Arcadis position externally. They will also be expected to collaborate across sectors and accounts to drive profitable business growth, differentiated technological and business model developments for strategic pursuits, share best-practices across regions, develop propositions across all our key client markets integrating digital transformation + innovation and data analytics knowledge, thereby building our market position, driving campaigns, shaping thought leadership, and building up a credible portfolio of work that can generate sales with our selected top clients, that derives increased revenue for the business. 

This role will foster collaboration across our global presence in Climate Adaptation through coordination with leaders across other geographies and exchanging innovative approaches and compelling value propositions to accelerate growth and enhance our position in the respective market. They will use a deep understanding of the Climate Adaptation and digital solutions to support Intelligence, our digital products business, and other ecosystem partners. With the support of the Global Climate Adaptation Solution Director, the Director will stimulate collaboration between global business areas to build global capability and teams by organizing cross-regional meetings and improve use of our Global Excellence Centers.

Supporting teams on strategic pursuits that drive value to our business will be key to this role. The Solution Director will be recognized in the market and be client-facing during the pursuit, proposal, and presentation phase of capturing an opportunity. Where applicable, they will collaborate with the Global Solution Director to bring global knowledge and share innovative views on technological and business model developments that enhance our brand and reputation to secure strategic pursuits.

Success in this role will result in sustained and profitable growth, diversification of Arcadis service offering, and expansion into new markets, services, and geographies where Arcadis is positively differentiated. Other success markers include:

Qualifications & Experience:

10+ years of industry leading consulting experience Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Planning Masters Degree considered an asset
