The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Principal and oversees the school's comprehensive communication strategy, ensuring it effectively conveys the institution's mission and values. This role focuses on enhancing internal and external communications, managing the school's digital presence, creating newsletters, coordinating media relations, and producing content that highlights school achievements. The Communications Coordinator also ensures all communications align with the College's Catholic, Lasallian, and Liberal Arts traditions, supports communication plans for events, collaborates with departments to streamline efforts, and assists the principal with public relations activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Experience in digital media management and content creation. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Proficiency in social media platforms and SEO best practices. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Familiarity with live streaming technology and digital signage.

Expected Salary: $50K-$60K

Core Responsibilities and Day-to-Day Tasks:

General Communications

Write and curate content for the school’s website, newsletters, and social media accounts. Produce and coordinate the morning assembly on a daily basis. Promote the accomplishments and events of the school community to various stakeholders and the general public through social media, the school website, email, and other communication tools. Manage internal documents and resources, ensuring they are consistent with the school's branding, including the Student Agenda, Course Description Guide, Master Calendar, Course packs, and all public-facing documents, resources, and signage. Collaborate with Administration, Admissions Office, and Co-curricular Director to develop and implement communication and marketing strategies. Maintain and disseminate the branding/style guide and identity standards for the school. Oversee school announcements and digital signage. Provide regular communication methods for various stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, alumni, and the District of DENA. Manage communication from student leadership groups such as Lasallian Youth Team, Link Crew, House Leaders, and Student Council. Handle other duties related to communications, marketing, and public relations as requested by the Directors of Admissions and Co-curricular Activities. Manage live streaming services for school events and activities.

Website Management

Maintain and update the school’s website regularly to ensure content is current and accurate. Research and write original content for the public site. Monitor the effectiveness of the school website and make improvements based on metrics. Manage search engine optimization (SEO) for the school website.\

Social Media Engagement

Manage all social media platforms for the school community. Develop engaging social media content to complement ongoing school activities and events. Evaluate social media strategies and recommend opportunities for growth and stronger community engagement. Monitor engagement and trending conversations, adjusting content based on metrics. Stay informed about other schools' website and social media activities.

School Events

Attend and document annual events such as, but not limited to: Terry Fox Day, Open House, Sharelife Day, Winter Activity Day, Megan’s Walk, Christmas and Spring concerts, Theatre De La Salle, and Graduation. Create dedicated sections for events on the school website.

Special Projects and Publications

Advise Communications Technology students to assist in the creation of the Yearbook, Oakleaves, Newscast, and podcast. Write content for school stories, and coordinate with staff writers. Conduct pitch meetings, providing criteria for story selection. Identify and interview alumni for school publications and podcasts. Produce a monthly recap newsletter combining features and news. Oversee the school newspaper, ensuring it blends newsletter updates with new features.

Forms and Communications Management

Create and manage forms for school activities, including co-curricular sign-ups and field trips, using eCollect. Develop form templates for various school needs. Manage new student communications plans and internal forms.

Additional Duties

Act as a liaison for the Parent’s Association. Utilize tools like Grammarly for content editing and proofreading. Maintain the announcements board in the auditorium. Provide resources for teachers on the school portal.
