Job Summary

The Revenue Accounting Analyst (RAA) is responsible for all aspects of airline revenue accounting - ensuring Porter’s passenger-related revenues are accounted for and reported accurately and timely. The role also acts as a Business Partner to ensure that appropriate accounting treatment is in place, to support delivery of revenue reporting; providing analytics and data in a timely manner for decision support. They will focus on ensuring our financial strategy, decisions and policies are commercial and compliant. Working closely with the team to enable strategic and operational outcomes and make sure they are achieved with the correct financial information and guidance. Key responsibilities includes general ledger postings, reconciliations, financial analysis of various revenue and unearned liability accounts, as well as ensuring internal controls are properly maintained. The RAA is also responsible for ensuring successful implementation of all revenue initiatives, including accounting process, contract review, systems testing and upgrades, etc. Areas of responsibility: revenue, interline and code share accounting, e-ticket reconciliation, external fare audit, airport/airline taxes and fees, technology upgrades Duties & Responsibilities Perform month end activities and account reconciliations as it relates to the revenue accounting process Complete interline sales settlement processing, ensuring accurate and timely reporting Monitor, review, audit and reconcile all sales and settlements with interline partners and merchants, troubleshoot issues and report discrepancies for all points of sale Ensure revenue accounting is compliant with accounting standards Ensure systems are properly tested, upgraded and compliant with any accounting and reporting needs Understand airport taxes, changes in fees and airport reporting Review contracts with an ability to understand contract terms, translate them into the appropriate accounting events, and provide feedback Liaise with external auditors, providing audit deliverables and assisting in the year end audit as needed. Ensure balance sheet is supported by appropriate analytics and working papers, develop reporting as required collaborating with internal and external partners Assist with interline/code share accounting Assist with e-ticketing transactions and processes Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy Other duties as assigned Behavioural Competencies Concern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others. Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals. Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers). Qualifications Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills Strong IT skills including knowledge of excel, data warehouse, business intelligence and reporting fundamentals Knowledge of any programming languages would be an asset (PYTHON, SQL) Excellent verbal and written communication skills and capable of working with cross-functional teams Proven ability to embrace technology for continuous process improvements and cost reductions Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Two+ years of experience in accounting and analytical roles Preferred Experience and Qualifications Previous airline industry experience with knowledge of e-ticket lifecycle and interline/code share accounting an asset Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA or CMA) an asset Self-starter who possesses a sense of urgency and an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with shifting demands Knowledge of North American airline fees and taxes Experience assessing risk and developing mitigating controls
