Process/Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description
SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, machinery, and equipment using applied knowledge of engineering principles. This may include fabricating, operating, installing, or repairing, and designing products such as motors, instruments, control panels, and other machines. Other engineering and mechanical maintenance functions will fall under the direction of the Engineer on a project-by-project basis.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Specialize in energy systems, applied mechanics, machine design, manufacturing, plant engineering, and maintenance Develop and maintain product specific process designs Design, create, and repair machines and mechanical systems of all kinds Develop, assemble, and install mechanical equipment, systems, and parts Maintain or improve production processes by evaluating, testing and resolving product line issues in order to ensure overall efficiency and produce quality products Develop & Maintain a more comprehensive maintenance program, including preventative maintenance Diagnose, repair, test, monitor and maintain production machinery and equipment To be a part of a manufacturing team that will move the facility to new heights by leading creative projectsSPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to – all other duties as required)
Develop manufacturing / process designs for new products, based on customer specifications or special requirements Verify and validate engineering designs by testing protocols and analyzing statistical data Conduct final inspection and recommend acceptance or rejection of completed designs Recommend improvements to current design of products Help in the redesign of the process design program Maintain current process designs, while trying to improve product through put and machine efficiencies Ensure that designs are safe, efficient, effective, and able to be manufactured Interfaces with Customers concerning their technical needs on current and new products Improve operations, reduce turnaround times, and optimize processes to provide seamless quality of engineering services Act as project manager on mechanical engineering projects & maintenance project Evaluate various mechanical products under consideration for purchase to determine their efficiency and cost-effectiveness Ensures that proper manufacturing procedures are followed and/or developed and documented Identifies and solves production process problems Conducts tests and experiments to analyze problem areas Evaluates new suppliers Lead & Develop a sustainable preventative maintenance program in coordination with the hourly maintenance team Develops and implements continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction plans Creates or modifies engineering procedures and train Operators on those procedures Analyzes manufacturing process capabilities of new products to identify potential production processing Responds to Customer complaints in order to resolve their problems and issues in the use of Essex Furukawa products Understands Essex Furukawa’s business Complies with Essex Furukawa policies as well as departmental procedures Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation

Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Technology and/or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline Work experience with production systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards. Direct knowledge of manufacturing methodologies. Proficiency with AutoCAD and other 3-D imaging software is essential. Background in skilled trades is a big asset Solid background in machine design as it relates to motion controls, switches, valves, motors, panel wiring, cylinders, and so on Ability to integrate new technologies into machines to insure that the organization is meeting its high quality goals and objectives. Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines. Competence in designing according to ISO 9001 standards & TS Standards Working knowledge of risk analysis and relevant legislative compliance Proven track record in managing large projects Proven direct involvement with Maintenance teams Proven direct involvement with designs and design software Ability to identify key financial performance indicators and their relationship with project indicators Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships Advanced mathematical skills, such as calculus and differential equations Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing are desirable Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and diverse software programs Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.SCOPE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
