Processing Manager

**Job Summary**: The Processing Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of all packing operations. This role requires an individual who is humble, driven, and is solutions oriented.
**Humble** - Employees that are team players and are respectful of others and the job at hand. Great team players lack excessive ego or concerns about status. Humble employees are quick to point out contributions of others and slow to seek attention of their own.
**Driven **- Employees who are motivated and focused on self-improvement. Driven or hungry employees are always looking for more. More things to do, learn, and take responsibility for. They never have to be pushed by a manager to work harder because they are self-motivated and diligent.
**Solutions Oriented** - Employees who focus on solving, and preventing problems from occurring, not just identifying them. This is equal parts of problems with systems and processes and the common sense that an employee has about people. They are aware, act appropriately, ask good questions, and listen to understand.
**Role and Accountability**:
- Oversee the daily operations of processing lines and operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Facilitate regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide coaching, feedback, and accountability, fostering a culture of collaboration, humility, and results-driven performance.
- Implement and maintain production schedules to meet customer demands through planning and communication with the Sales and Marketing team
- Drive the team through Level 10 meetings and one-on-ones as outlined in the Performance Management Policy.
- Understand and analyze the daily performance of the processing lines with an eye for efficiency improvements, focusing on the impact of process, staffing and basic mechanics of the line
- Ensure food safety and quality assurance standards are met throughout production.
- Utilize Microsoft To-Do for task tracking and reminders to ensure efficient organization and completion of daily tasks, promoting productivity and accountability within the department.
- Collaborate with the Facilities and Maintenance department to ensure downtime is minimized and equipment operators are properly supported.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on operational performance and key metrics.
- Lead by example, fostering teamwork, mutual respect, and continuous improvement throughout all operational activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that arise.
- Monitor and manage performance metrics, providing reports to the Director of Processing
- Personally acknowledge and welcome new hires.
- Congratulate employees receiving promotions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make timely and informed decisions
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of packline operations and unionized work environments.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive work culture.
- Knowledge of apples, tart cherries, strawberry an asset
- Proficiency in using task management software like Microsoft To-Do.
**Education and Experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferring but not limited to: Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Agricultural Sciences.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within an industrial and/or agricultural environment; Proven experience managing teams and leading operational initiatives.
- Knowledge of Traction and Ideal Team Player ideologies and methods an asset.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and operations practices, with strong experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience managing unionized staff.
- Familiarity with performance management processes and tools.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including food safety requirements.
Salary $80,000 to $110,000 annually.
