Position and Responsibilities

As a member of the maintenance and engineering department, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling of maintenance work for the control group trades (electricians, instruments techs, and gasfitters).

The control planner responsibilities include:

Review of maintenance requests for quality which includes generating work orders and completion of preliminary labour assessments for those suitable to put in process. Planning work orders in accordance with Cameco’s work planning process, including: visiting workface, when necessary, in order to assess the requirements of the job; identifying all materials, labour, permits and special tools required to complete the work; preparing detailed instructions for completion of the work with reference to BRR work instructions, equipment manuals, or other relevant documents where applicable; creating reservations or purchase requisitions for all required materials and verifying completed kits to ensure accuracy. Scheduling work orders in accordance with Cameco’s work scheduling process, including preparing a preliminary weekly schedule based on carry-over from the previous week, preventive maintenance orders, priority jobs; chairing the Control portion of the weekly scheduling meeting to solicit feedback from operating groups on work priorities, sequencing, and coordination issues; and modifying and finalizing weekly schedules. Support continual improvement of maintenance management systems and processes by developing task lists from planned work orders to increase future planning efficiency; identifying, through the planning process, opportunities to improve work management practices and asset information including bills of materials, equipment master data, maintenance strategies, maintenance plans, etc.

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:

Provincial Trades Certificate or Instrumentation Technologist Diploma A minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling practices Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and carry out work with minimal supervision Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS’s), with preference given to SAP Advanced problem-solving and project coordination skills and the ability to exercise independent judgement in dealing with technical matters
