Our Facilities Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation (FD&ER) Planners will be responsible for the planning and execution of all activities related to Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation of facilities and lands that have been transferred to FD&ER at Chalk River Laboratories.

You will identify and recommend improvements to any CNL-wide procedures that affects own work area while collaborating with others in the development of procedural improvements utilizing innovative approaches.

**What will you be doing**
- Leading or assisting in preparation of detailed work plans for FD & ER field work.
- Following and leading the Integrated Work Control Process.
- Providing detailed review and comment on documents related to the CNL Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation programs.
- Preparing and addressing comments on documents in support of activities for CNL Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation.
- Reviewing documentation and performing field walk downs to identify deficiencies and issue reports.
- Working with trades, project staff, radiation protection, operations and other support groups to resolve problems and issues related to planning and scheduling of the CNL Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation programs.
- Working closely with the CNL FD&ER groups to coordinate schedules and timelines for document development.
- Prioritizing tasks and deliverables according to defined timelines.
- Assisting in the preparation of Scopes of Work, and bid evaluations.
- Preparing technical reports and researching tools, equipment and techniques used in Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation.
- Ensuring the safety and compliance of people on the site.

**What we are looking for**:
**Education**:

- Graduation from an institute of technology/ Successful completion of Secondary School and a minimum of five (5) years pertinent experience plus three (3) years’ demonstrated experience in a leadership position.

Certifications:

- A minimum of Group III certification is required.

Principles, Protocols and Regulations:

- Familiarity with the specific safety codes applied to the Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation processes.
- Working knowledge of Waste Management principles and volume reduction methodologies.
- Working knowledge of the document process including project documents and engineering documents.
- Remain current with Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation activities around the world

Experience in:

- A nuclear operational or decommissioning environment.
- ICWP (integrated work control process).
- Researching, gathering, analyzing, and assembling a variety of technical information and translating the information into work execution steps.
- Interpreting complex drawings and specifications in either paper or electronic format.
- Knowledge of configuration management and ECC to support updating and maintaining records of Environmental Remediation activities.
- Ability to think logically through complex problems.
- Supervisory, team building and communication development roles

Strong abilities with:

- Thinking logically through complex problems
- Navigating through conflicting priorities and regulatory requirements

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security”.
