Aquatic Fisheries Biologist

Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Technicalleadership for the delivery of highquality aquatic science and datacollectionservices.
- Supportprojects from proposal stage to closeoutreporting
- Planand lead field assessments to industry standards and preparereports for projects within a variety ofsectors.
- Leadfield programs across northeastern British Columbia ensuringtechnical excellence safety and quality ofdeliveries.
- Workcollaboratively with junior intermediate and senior staffsubconsultants and governmentagencies.
- Performas the technical lead for all aquatic projects includingpreparation design and implementation of work executionplans.
- Establishwater quality monitoring and sampling methodologies lead waterquality monitoring and sampling programs analyze data and writesummaryreports.
- Organizeand implement aquatic baseline assessments operational andcompliance monitoring programs and aquatic impact assessmentsincluding study design data analysis andreporting.
- Deliverhigh quality wellwritten technical reports on time and withinbudget.
- Compilemanage and interpret environmentaldata.
- Prepareor assist with permit applications environmental assessments andenvironmental managementplans
Qualifications:
- RegisteredProfessional Designation Required P.Bio R.P.Bio.
- Mandatory5 years minimum of managing small and large scale fisheries studiesand developing managementreports.
- Experiencewith environmentalassessment.
- Experiencewith data collection data analysis andreporting

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a SeniorBiologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to bebased out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC.However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of theseareas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife,birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils,wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control)Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans,and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatoryapprovals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation,renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior levelresponsibilities could include Field Coordination and ProjectManagement Technical leadership and mentorship within a teamenvironment Promoting a strong safety culture and workingcollaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify,you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related disciplinewith five years experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag.designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in thefollowing areas would be considered assets: ElectrofishingCertification (approved by WorkSafe BC) Fish identification Birdsurvey methodology and bird identification Amphibian salvagemethodology and amphibian identification Erosion and SedimentControl Plant identification Candidates with the following skillsand experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of fieldtechniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting avariety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, birdsurveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage,environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincialand federal environmental assessment regulatory environmentExcellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills andphysically fit Ability to work independently with minimalsupervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire togrow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and supportrole) with other environmental professionals, environmentaldiscipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation offield equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you musthave a valid Driver's License.
