Payroll & Benefits Manager

Responsibilities:
• Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Administer comprehensive group benefit plans, including extended health plan, retirement plan, wellness, flex credit, and liaise with benefit providers and consultants
• Act as system administrator for Small Improvements, our objective setting platform, and Purely HR
• Perform monthly reconciliation of payroll accounts and liaise with auditors on payroll matters
• Prepare quarterly report for the Digital Supercluster projects
• Handle onboarding of new employees on all payroll and benefits matters, including employee enrollment and termination
• Maintain employee personnel records and respond to payroll and benefit inquiries
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through government reporting
• Update payroll and benefit sections of the Finance Policies and Procedures as and when required
• Oversee employee time off in Purely HR and prepare monthly and annual departmental reports
• Prepare annual payroll budget and monthly payroll variance analysis
• Assist with other finance and accounting related duties as and when required
• Proven experience in Payroll and Benefits Administration, ideally within the Non-Profit sector, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in using payroll software, specifically Dayforce
• Extensive knowledge of Canadian Payroll and Year-end Payroll procedures
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis
• Demonstrated ability to manage benefits programs and ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
