Purpose of Position:

The Manager, Recruitment Operations is a senior leader in the Recruitment and International department and the key leader of the Domestic Recruitment team. The Manager is responsible for developing complex recruitment and marketing strategies in consultation with Academic Leadership, Marketing and Communications, International, the Office of the Registrar, and other stakeholders as required. The successful candidate will be required to be high-level knowledgeable on all College programming and student service areas including their offerings and goals. 

Reporting to the Director, Recruitment and International, the Manager will conduct on-going in-depth market research to inform decision making for domestic recruitment efforts and market development. Using data and market research, the Manager will need to regularly review recruitment activities, results, and strategies ensuring key performance indicators are being met, and provide regular updates to the Director.

The Manager is responsible for managing domestic recruitment personnel and activities, including on campus and off campus based employees, and setting market and event key performance indicators for the department in consultation with the Director. This role will employ networking skills to enhance existing and develop new relationships, both internally and externally, for the purpose of recruitment and market development, and be responsible for overseeing significant recruitment events including Open House, Discovery Day, Counselor Retreat, and others. This position will be required to participate in the implementation of new technology, including a new customer relationship management system, and lead process optimization for the recruitment team. 

Key Job Functions:

Supervision and Management

Lead and manage a team of employees, providing coaching, feedback, and support to help them achieve their goals and objectives. Develop and implement strategies to improve business performance, including setting goals, creating action plans, and measuring progress against targets.Communicate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that key recruitment objectives are being met.Work within the parameters of relevant College policies and procedures.Ensure that employees are following company policies and procedures, and taking appropriate actions when policies are not being followed.Provide regular updates to senior management on the performance of your team and the business unit as a whole, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.Hire, train, and develop new employees as needed, ensuring that the team has the skills and resources necessary to meet business objectives.

Recruitment and Strategic Planning

In collaboration with the Director, International & Recruitment, develop the College’s annual recruitment plan and budget.Monitor department spending and work with Director, International & Recruitment to manage expenditures within budget.Investigate and assess recruitment and marketing strategies, and implement recommendations that support market development.Participate in the implementation of a customer relationship management (CRM) system and lead process optimization for Recruitment.Analyze trends and development in Alberta post-secondary education and relevant sectors to ensure appropriate strategic and tactical responses.Develop recruitment and marketing strategies including planning, coordinating, and implementing recruitment and conversion activities.Oversee on-campus recruitment initiatives, including Student Ambassadors, Campus Tours, and major on campus events such as Discovery Day and Open House. Support Recruitment Specialists in developing off-campus recruitment events and travel plans to maximize engagement with target markets while working within budget constraints.Ensure accuracy of recruitment materials including digital, print and third-party resources. Work with the Marketing & Communications Team to make updates/corrections as needed.Provide guidance in process refinement within the Recruitment and Admissions team with a particular emphasis on optimizing the use and functionality of CRM.Create and modify reports relating to recruitment and admissions.Manage recruitment data required for recruitment and enrolment decisions.Direct the processes needed to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness in recruitment practices.This position may be required to travel to and provide presentations at annual recruitment events when needed.Undertake other duties as assigned

 Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

Minimum of a bachelor degree in business, communications, marketing, or related area with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience at an education institution Three (3) or more years of related experience in recruitment, strategic planning, student services, and/or enrolment management, as well as information/task coordination. Knowledge and specific aptitude in the areas of inquiry management, CRM for the purpose of post-secondary recruitment, and event management with a fundamental knowledge of financial aid, student services and college marketing. Superior oral and written communication skills. Requires the ability to communicate effectively via email with prospective students. Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, be able to multitask, be a quick learner and be self-directed.Ability to quickly comprehend customer needs as well as a proven record in providing customer solutionsMust be highly organized, responsible, trustworthy, and adaptableStrong team player with excellent leadership skillsProficient computer skills including PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Banner, and Cognos are required.Experience with SimplyCast is considered an asset.Three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience leading a team with a proven track record of achieving results is considered an asset.Knowledge of Olds College and Olds College programming. An agriculture or agriculture-technology related background is considered an assetPosition may be required to work evenings and/or weekends which may include extensive travel time.
