Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist Based in Fort McMurray, AB, the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist will be responsible for working with clients to assess skills, organize and facilitate training, and identify training and/or employment opportunities. A successful candidate will have experience developing career plans, be knowledgeable in working with vulnerable populations, be comfortable facilitating and instructing in a group-learning setting, and have the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 

Duties/Responsibilities

Providing career and employment counselling to vulnerable women returning to employment or school  Facilitating essential skills, employment preparation, and occupational skills workshops  Recruiting, screening and assessing participants for eligibility  Conducting vocational assessments to determine employment history, education and experience Assessing transferrable skills and employment barriers Completing resumes and cover letters & conducting labour market research Providing job development supports with experience creating and maintaining an employer network Ensuring sustainability in job placement; providing direct support to participants and employers to maintain employment Assessing and addressing individual needs, barriers, and complexities and developing and managing service plans Connecting participants with appropriate community resources, available through the Government of Alberta, Federal Government Services, and local agencies and service providers Timely report writing, in accordance with current templates, guides, standards and processes Record keeping and maintaining paper and electronic files

Minimum Qualifications

University Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences, Human Services, or related field such as, Community Rehabilitation, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Social Work, Education etc. A related designation, working towards designation or willingness/eligibility to obtain any of the following: Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CCRC), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE), Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) or Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), alongside membership to the Vocational Rehabilitation Association in Canada considered advantageous Career and employment counselling and job development/placement required An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity Candidates should have a strong understanding of the Edmonton labour market and educational programming opportunities  Case management or government programming experience an asset Sensitivity to learning limitations that may be present with participants Intermediate to advanced computer skills with experience using Mobius  Knowledgeable with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, as well as key job search sites including Glassdoor, Indeed, CareerBuilder for job searching and applications Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills Security background check required
