About the Program

The Supportive Environments and Experiences for Development (SEED) program is a national early childhood development (ECD) initiative coordinated by the Aga Khan Education Board for Canada. SEED targets parents and other primary caregivers of Ismaili children from birth-to-four years of age. The purpose of the program is to support parents and families in their engagement and involvement in their children's learning and development during the early years. Weekly group sessions enable experience-based facilitated sessions for parents/ caregivers and their children and promote music and movement, early literacy, spirituality and faith-based, and school-readiness experiences.

SEED is based on the following principles: Being a parent may be the most important and most challenging role we play in a child’s life. Engaged and involved parenting is essential for children’s learning and development.  All parents can use extra information and support that can help them to make the best decisions about their child’s health, growth, education, and well-being.  The purpose of this program is to provide extra support and information to parents in this important and challenging role they play.
