Reporting to the Housing Manager in Edmonton, the Housing Volunteer Support and Program Coordinator will support the programs and housing initiatives. The role of the Housing Volunteer Support and Program Coordinator is to play a part in enhancing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth of residents Housing Team, Property Management, Street Level Team, and other agency internal departments; and encourage resident independence, community engagement and housing stability.

**Position Type**: Full - time
**Schedule**: 40 hours per week, (may include evenings and weekends)
**Reporting to**: Prairie Manor Manager
**Location**: Edmonton

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide support and assistance to The Mustard Seed Housing teams in Edmonton
- Liaise with Chaplains and wellness advocates as needed to assist new residents in their transition to Permanent Housing
- Support the dignity of our guests by seeking to identify their needs in a respectful manner and plan programs around those needs
- Ensure the development and implementation of inhouse programs are consistent with program goals and of maximum benefit to residents, i.e., life skills including culinary, hygiene, financial management, boundaries, and community supports as well as planning for seasonal events
- Ensure that programs are aligned and comply with The Mustad Seed policies and standards and reflect residents needs due to changing socioeconomic and continuous quality improvement through ongoing planning
- Knowledge of pertinent policies, standards and procedures and adhere to same. Take immediate action to correct non-compliance, including safety protocols such as fire alarms and situations requiring emergency response; and completes and submits appropriate reports.
- Support a dedicated team by providing clear and consistent support. Promote the team’s success through orientation, mentoring and guidance, and performance management
- Develop and encourage resident's engagement in community initiatives
- Maintain records and provide program evaluations and/or statistical information as required by The Mustard Seed
- Recruit and train volunteers for programs, events, and activity efforts, as well as all necessary support, resources and supplies required and ensure ongoing training of volunteers
- Other duties as required

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Degree/Diploma in Human Services field or in process of attaining, or related work experience
- Understanding of homelessness and desire to work with marginalized individuals
- A passion to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta
- Volunteer management experience considered an asset
- Program development experience is an asset
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team environment
- Strong administrative and computer skills
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to manage staff performance and crisis situations
- A passion for developing community and being a part of ending homelessness in Alberta

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Full-time, permanent employment 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Some flexibility is required; work hours may vary, and evenings and weekends are occasionally required to meet the needs of the position
- Fast paced and demanding work environment
- Physical effort: moderate amount walking, climbing, standing, sitting, lifting, carrying.
- Mental effort: moderate to extreme mental effort required to respond to highly intense situations, and emotionally disturbing incidents involving clients (medical distress, death). Daily interactions with colleagues and guests

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees to be in agreement with and sign our statement of faith
- Employment Security and/or Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) and Driver’s Abstract required
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
