About the Role
The Administrative Co-ordinator is responsible for assisting the School Manager, Director, Associate Director, and other faculty members and staff in overseeing academic and temporary instruction, and research budgets. The role ensures the efficient and effective functioning of the unit by developing strategies and plans to achieve objectives and leads ongoing business process improvements. The role supports all financial activities related to collective and employment agreements, and the application of academic and research policies, procedures and governance.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualities or core competencies needed to be successful in the role:
Ability to consult with numerous other staff and faculty in Communication; and at SFU, including Finance, Payroll, Research Accounting, Research Services, Faculty of Communication, Art & Technology (FCAT), in order to accomplish their duties and responsibilities. Ability to liaise with third-party vendors and suppliers in the delivery of various products and services needed for the efficient operation of CMNS, and for the efficient administration of faculty members' research projects, contracts, and grants.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Arts, or related discipline and two years of related experience in financial administration, post-secondary academic program administration and coordination, and event management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Good knowledge of accounting procedures and practices. Good knowledge of Canadian granting agency regulations. Excellent organizational, problem solving, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent financial administration skills. Proficiency in the use of student information systems, word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. Ability to exercise mature judgment, initiative, diplomacy and tact.What We Offer
