Reporting to the Foreman or Lead, the Flush Truck Operator is responsible for operating a flush truck and will perform duties as assigned to ensure that completed work is delivered according to Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd.’s company policies and procedures, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety, and contract specifications. This position utilizes a flush truck in the cleaning of various sewer lines, including the investigation of assets and the maintenance and repair of water, storm, and sanitary sewer systems.

Equipment Operations:

Record deficiencies and report them to the foreman and an appropriate maintenance team member. Operate a flush truck and other heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner while maintaining the unit’s cleanliness and keeping a daily logbook in compliance with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Act. Responsible for the safe and effective flushing of water, storm and sanitary pipes, and manholes. Assist the Inspection Unit with daily activities, not limited to setting up of equipment, cleaning equipment, cleaning manholes, and traffic control. Complete all required paperwork properly and in a timely manner. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance. Perform other construction related duties as required.

Technical Knowledge:

Ground Disturbance Training Certificate is preferred. A Confined Space Training Certificate is required. Mechanical aptitude and multiple field tickets would be considered an asset. ,

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

Qualifications & Experience

High School Diploma or is preferred. Class 3Q Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract (as per Company Policy). Preferred minimum 1–3 years of experience operating a Flush or Water Truck. Knowledge of industry standards, and OH&S requirements
