At SMS Equipment, our Strategic Account Manager is responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with current important large strategic customers and build a pipeline of new customers. This position can be in Calgary or Edmonton, AB.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 plus incentives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Direct, develop and coordinate the development of long- and short-term business and marketing strategies for the current important large strategic customers in order to meet share, volume and profit objectives. Develops a strategic business plan/sales plan and strategy that encompasses all elements of customer activity. Develop and deliver appropriate individual customer sales plans in line with the business strategies and objectives. Assists in the development of income budgets for the assigned Major Accounts. Collaborate with relevant internal groups to develop customer specific business plans. Effectively communicate all applicable news within SMS as it relates to this customer base. Support regional and other internal teams in order to influence and maximize the customer experience. Consistent communication with all relevant branch personnel in order to drive consistency with the customer throughout the region. Quote, negotiate and rent equipment to Major Accounts as required. Proactively lead a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones. Develops regular call schedules and close relationships with customers and staff at all levels in their companies. Assists customer in implementing changes for improvement and reduced operating costs. Takes initiative, makes decisions, and assumes responsibility for decisions on customer problems and needs. Resolves customer problems by providing technical support on maintenance and operating problems, using the proper procedures for investigation, reporting and follow-up. Ensures the feedback of customer problems to SMS so that solutions to recurrent problems can be developed. Prepares informative written call reports.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of strategic Sales Management or Major Account Management experience, preferably with thorough knowledge of service operations. Additional requirements include:

Expert persuasion skills and the ability to captivate a room when delivering presentations and product demonstrations, regardless of the seniority of the audience. Ability to demonstrate results in marketing or sales. Excellent computer skills with the use of electronic systems. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence. Strong understanding of sales processes. Ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Mechanical knowledge an asset. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related in as asset. Valid Class 5 drivers license.
