What you will be doing…

The Manager, Workforce Development is responsible for enhancing and delivering the College's mandate to conduct community & industry liaising within a region of the province of Nova Scotia. The Manager supports external stakeholder engagement through efforts that include work integrated learning, applied research, apprenticeship, program engagement, alumni support, continuing education, and contract training initiatives. The Manager reports to the Director, Workforce Development.

While sector based, the Manager will represent the College throughout Nova Scotia, to match College program skillsets and equipment with the innovative technical needs and requirements of Industry Partner stakeholders. The Manager will develop and nurture relationships with external partners in industry, government, and other appropriate community organizations to support the increase of external engagement within the college. It is expected that the negotiation and documentation of agreements, contracts, and deliverables are responsibilities of this position. The Manager will ensure that any intellectual property ownership and rights of the College, faculty, staff, students, and partners are protected at all times.

The incumbent will be one of the leading faces of the College within the external sector and will need to regularly act as liaison between College stakeholders, government agencies, community members, and industry. Similarly, the incumbent will collaborate across schools and campuses and will stimulate engagement across all faculty, staff, and students. This work incorporates the efficient management of organizational budgets and operational planning and can maximize and leverage results under constraints. Through self-motivated collaboration, the incumbent's previous experience makes them an influencer with integrity that has built trust within communities and among the public. This position is responsible for creating and delivering programs that provide value to the College in furtherance of NSCC's strategic plan.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in a related field such as Business or Science. An MBA would be considered an asset. You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience in developing strategic sector engagement. You have specific experience in assessing industry training needs, and leading projects from inception to implementation. You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, and Customer Relationship Management databases. You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
