About the role:
At Compass ELC you will work as a Nutrition Specialist alongside some of the most passionate, caring and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time planning, prepping, and cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks, in accordance with the Canada Food Guide, Ministry of Education, and Compass Early Learning and Care policies and guidelines. You will model and grow a perspective of equity and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness. Hours will be based on program needs and funding. You will work hours per week Monday to Friday, hours may vary between am and pm.
Some accountabilities associated with the role include:
Planning, prepping, and, cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks. Collaborating with a dedicated and passionate team of nutrition specialists.Preparingmenus and food with consideration to children’s food allergies and sensitivities Drafting and preparing seasonal menus in consideration of the Canada Food Guide, Ministry of Education, and Compass ELC policies and guidelines. Building and maintaining relationships with families and including them in the learning process. Building and maintaining relationships with staff, volunteers, students, and community partners. Working as part of a team with Co-workers, Families, Community Partners, and Children. Ensuring the safety of staff and children by learning and acknowledging all children’s diverse needs, and backgrounds, and creating equitable opportunities for all children to engage. Demonstrating respect for spaces by ensuring the safety and cleanliness of all equipment, dishes, furniture, and materials.

Possesses the training and documents required by the Ministry of Education, Compass Early Learning and Care, and the Child Care Early Years Act to work in a childcare setting: Clear Police Vulnerable Sector CheckStandard First Aid and CPR Level CUpdated immunization records (Or a signed and notarized refusal of affidavit or medical exemption).Has an up-to-date Food Handler's certificate
