Salary range for the position is $155,327 to $232,992. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact :

The Executive Director, Seniors Specialized Care Transformation is a member of the Clinical Operations Leadership Team and acts in an advisory capacity in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of services within the seniors specialized care portfolio. The Executive Director provides senior leadership and direction to the development, implementation, and assessment of strategies, program/service objectives that support patient-focused seamless seniors care that is integrated across community, primary care, and hospital settings. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the alignment and achievement of the goals and timelines set out in the Specialized Care Program (SCP) policy papers as it related to seniors care/chronic medically frail adults. The Executive Director works in formal partnership (i.e., dyad relationship) with the Executive Medical Director.

The Executive Director is required to develop effective partnerships with divisions of family practice partners, First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), and local first nations to ensure that service delivery reflects the cultural needs of First Nations.

What will you work on :

•Develops and supports the implementation of specialized care programs as outlined in the target operational model. Ensures that the programs fully align with the attributes articulated in provincial policy and that they contribute to the reductions in demand in the acute care system.

•Plans, develops strategies and standards related to home support services, home and community care professional services, long term care services and palliative/end of life services

•Ensures the tactical planning, financial and business operations, and service delivery activities of the portfolio align with and contribute to successful achievement of the organization’s strategic services plan and deliverables and are working towards ensuring public confidence in health system performance.

•Provides input into investment opportunities related to seniors specialized care including operating and capital budgets. Working within the approved financial mandate, prepares budget and program recommendations, monitors progress of investments and program/service outcomes, identifies efficiencies and promotes optimal use of resources, and makes recommendations on current and future program and service adjustments.

•Develops and sustains effective working relationships with Divisions of Family Practice, Specialists, FNHA, Ministry of Health, and other key partners.

•Develops effective communication and engagement strategies which ensure that partners are fully informed of and join in the strategic direction of Interior Health (IH).

•Develops a culture of responsiveness in seniors specialized care that focuses on supporting patients to live independently at home or in the community and that can support reductions in demand for acute care facilities. Fosters an environment that embraces and supports innovation and evidence-based research to inform local decision-making and develop enhanced practices and protocols.

•Ensures the continued development and evaluation of a multi-year people management plan that complements IH’s strategic human resources direction for staff, volunteers, and physicians.

•Adheres to agreements and policy commitments signed or agreed to by the Ministry of Health with the British Columbia Medical Association and the Health Employers’ Association of British Columbia with respect to labour and health human resources.

•Develops and maintains internal relationships with staff, physicians, patients/clients, and volunteers by communicating effectively to ensure the business operations and service delivery activities of the portfolio are aligned and contribute to the successful achievement of IH’s strategic directions.

•Develops and maintains relationships with key external partners such as elected officials, government agencies, regional hospital districts, Indigenous leaders, advocacy groups, and foundations. Relationships with key partners are foundational for success and must encourage understanding and cooperation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the portfolio programs and services.

•In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.

•Provides leadership for other services, programs, or projects as assigned by the Vice President.
