As the largest amateur multi-sport competition in the country, the bring together over 3, high calibre athletes and coaches in more than twenty disciplines. Alternating between summer and winter, every two years, they showcase the immense talent and perseverance of our champions. The winter edition of the Canada Games will take place in Québec City from February 26 to March 15, .

Building our Team

The Canada Games Host Society is looking to build its team with all-star players. Your mission? Collaborate to create memorable Games that will thrill athletes and visitors alike.

Position Overview

As a key member of the Canada Games management team, the Director, Human Capital, effectively manages human resources policies and procedures. They implement compensation and benefits standards. They develop and support their team members in human resources functions, health and safety in the workplace, ethics and integrity, as well as volunteer recruitment and management.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the position include:

Lead and support team members in performing their functions;

Conduct research and provide general advice on Quebec labour legislation, compensation, and required documents;

Act as the primary facilitator for promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity in recruitment, hiring, and management practices for both staff and volunteers;

Collaborate with the management team to recruit and hire 70 employees and 5, volunteers (including onboarding, accreditation, and training);

Guide directors in using contribution appreciation programs;

Ensure effective horizontal communication and integration of activities across all relevant domains;

Liaise with external stakeholders and cégeps/universities regarding various services and programs available to the Host Society (e.g., training, summer jobs, research projects, internships, etc.);

Implement a transition program for employees as their contracts with the Games conclude;

Work efficiently as part of a team and maintain healthy and positive professional relationships.

Education | Experience

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial relations, or any other relevant field;

At least 5 years of experience in a management position in a relevant field.

Requirements and Skills

Demonstrate strategic thinking, strong analytical skills and sound judgment;;

Demonstrate initiative and entrepreneurship;

Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;

Skilled in building and mobilizing high-performance teams;

Ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines;

Capability to anticipate potential challenges and propose innovative solutions to prevent or resolve them;

Manage change, priorities, planning and follow-up;

Bilingualism (English and French): an asset
