Philosophy and Values of Nursing Services and the policies of theHospital.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

* Current registration as a Registered Nurse (EC) with theCollege of Nurses of Ontario

* Graduate from an approved Nurse Practitioner program

* Current certification in BCLS

* Experience working with geriatric populations managing acuteand chronic conditions

* Certification, or recent continuing education related togeriatric nursing

* A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliablevehicle

In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in thefollowing elements of nursing practice:

* Physical Assessment

* Intravenous Therapy and Intravenous Initiation

* Central Venous Line Management

* Aseptic Technique and Body Substance Precautions

* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborativelywith an inter professional team

* Ability to educate, apply adult learning principles andevidenced based research into practice

* Ability to maintain positive patient, family and staffrelations

* Critical thinking, problem solving, prioritization and conflictresolution

* Ability to self direct, interact, and adapt effectively withother professionals in complex, dynamic situations

* Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients andfamilies about health findings, treatment options, self

care, and advance care planning

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be givento applicants who have:

* Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others

* Demonstrated leadership and interprofessional communicationskills

* Demonstrated computer skills

* Knowledge and experience working with residents in Long‑Term Care, Assisted Living and Retirement Homes

within the city of Thunder Bay

Salary Range: $65.210 to 70.750
