Proven Experience: Showcase your hands-on experience working with students with special education needs across various age groups, preferably within a school environment.
Collaborative Spirit: Demonstrate your ability to collaborate with classroom teachers. Your contribution to establishing a positive classroom environment is crucial for fostering an atmosphere of growth and support,
Comprehensive Student Support Skills: Highlight your skills in providing support across personal care, mobility, communication, and life skills. Your multifaceted approach ensures students receive the holistic assistance they need.
Behavioural Expertise: Showcase your in-depth understanding of positive behaviour supports, including proficiency in Applied Behaviour Analysis strategies. Your expertise contributes to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Classroom Management: Illustrate your proven ability to handle classroom management and emergency situations with poise, Your quick and appropriate actions based on established board policies and procedures make you a reliable asset.
Effective Communication: Emphasize your ability to communicate with sensitivity and courtesy. Whether interacting with children, parents, staff, or others, your effective communication skills create a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
Adherence to Protocols: Highlight your proven track record of following policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner. Your commitment to adherence ensures a smooth operation within the established guidelines.

Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education Expertise: Graduate of a College of Applied Arts & Technology in Educational Assistant - Special Needs Support (preferred), Autism Behavioural Sciences, Child and Youth Worker, or possess equivalent post-secondary training.
Valuable Experience: Previous experience in an Educational Assistant role within diverse classroom settings is a notable asset, demonstrating your ability to navigate various educational environments.
Mobility and Dedication: Access to reliable transportation, coupled with your enthusiasm to work in multiple DSBN school locations throughout the Niagara region.
Physical Agility: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods. Your capability to move and carry equipment for program activities is an essential contribution.
Supportive Strength: Showcase your commitment to the well-being of students by demonstrating your capacity to physically assist children, including lifting. Your dedication may involve meeting physical demands analysis when necessary.
Emergency Preparedness: Preferred certification in Standard First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Behavioural Management Systems (BMS) underscore your commitment to creating a safe and secure learning environment.
Trust and Transparency: Provision of a satisfactory Police Clearance including a Vulnerable Sector Police Check from the last 6 months (or ability to obtain one). This commitment is a fundamental condition of employment.
