THE ROLEUnder the direction of the Manager, Human Performance Delivery, the Performance Dietician Specialist plans, delivers and evaluates performance nutrition services tailored to meet the current and evolving needs of the military members. They provide performance nutrition advice and coaching to military members based on evidence-based peer-reviewed literature. They assess and analyze dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of the military members in the context of athletic performance and health. They counsel military members on achieving and maintaining a level of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and performance. They also provide personalized individual and group meal and snack plans to promote the achievement of goals for optimal performance and good health.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Nutritional Science, Sports Nutrition, Applied Human Nutrition or in a related field AND some year of experience in dietetics, nutrition, nutritional sciences or sports nutrition
AND
Registered with the Ontario College of Dietitians or with a provincial regulatory organization and a member of Dietitians of Canada
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), an asset
Precision Nutrition Level 1 and 2 Certifications, an asset
NCSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification, an asset
International Olympic Committee (IOC), Diploma in Sport Nutrition, an asset
Experience
In working with elite athletes in a high performance environment
In planning, delivering and performing ongoing evaluation of performance nutrition/sport specific demands based services and programs
In addressing client non-evidence based nutrition beliefs/attitudes
In evaluating effectiveness of performance nutrition services
In assessing the impact of nutrition on performance and injury prevention
In planning and delivering training courses, workshops, presentations and specialized clinics
In performance nutrition coaching, education, training and meal planning
In adult education principles and techniques
In risk management
In communication and marketing
In budget administration
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
