THE OPPORTUNITY: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICE SUPPORT (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT A - Itinerant)

In this position, you will:

Perform information technology functions to support the division

Receive phone calls, emails, walk-ups and online submissions and record, categorize, prioritize, and assign requests for technical services

Provide first & deskside level technical support, troubleshooting and training staff/students via phone, remote control or on site

Determine the nature of requests through active listening, asking probing questions, using multiple computer applications to determine clients needs to ensure accurate information is collected, perform troubleshooting steps and working towards first level resolution

Install and configure computer and mobile technologies, system and application software, network equipment, projectors, printers, and other technologies in schools and District locations

Prepare and maintain records and statistics

Perform other work within the job band as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of grade 12 plus one (1) year of full time equivalent post-secondary training in a relevant technology discipline

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in information technology

Experience working in a K-12 education organization is an asset

Skill in implementing, problem solving, and supporting Apple and Microsoft computer, mobile, directory, server, printing technologies

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Skill in supportively answering and responding to phone calls and emails

Knowledge using an IT Services Management tracking system, ITIL Foundations or equivalent experience in customer service and Service Desk certification training is an asset

Must be able to lift/carry/move weights up to 50 lbs

Must be able to meet the following assessment: Hands-on 1-hour series of tasks/problems (70%+)

Must possess a valid BC drivers license and be willing to travel throughout the district

COMPENSATION

The salary for this position is $34.60/hour (paid as 7 hours/day) plus a comprehensive benefits package, including Municipal Pension Plan, Vancouver Employee Savings Plan, Extended Health, Dental, Group Life, Long Term Disability, Vacation, & Gratuity Days.

This position is 100% on-site (in-person) at the VSB Board Office (1580 West Broadway).
