Prairie Diagnostic Services Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation created as a partnership between
the University of Saskatchewan and the Province of Saskatchewan. PDS provides preeminent
veterinary diagnostic services and expertise in support of disease surveillance, animal health,
public health and environmental health. The laboratory is located in the Western College of
Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) on the beautiful University of Saskatchewan Campus in
Saskatoon and provides a full range of services to clients including necropsy, surgical
pathology, dermatohistopathology, clinical pathology, histology, bacteriology, immunology,
molecular diagnostics, virology, endocrinology and toxicology. The laboratory is ISO/IEC 17025
accredited by the Standards Council of Canada and accredited by the American Association of
Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians.
PDS is currently seeking a skilled, client-focused locum Clinical Pathologist to provide veterinary
diagnostic services to a diverse client group from across Western Canada. The term length of
the locum position is negotiable.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Provision of diagnostic service in clinical pathology, including, but not limited to
hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, endocrinology and cytology;
• Provision of consultation to submitting veterinarians regarding diagnostic findings in a
client-focused manner;
• Teaching duties for undergraduate veterinary students and graduate students may be
assigned as a partnership with the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Western College
of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM).
