Saskatoon, Canada VetStrategy Full time

Cumberland Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary hospital that offers a wide range of services for dogs and cats in Saskatoon and the surrounding area. Our team believes that every pet deserves individual attention and is entitled to high-quality medicine. We strive to provide a positive experience for each and every client-pet visit.

We understand the physical and emotional toll that comes with being in this industry, which is why maintaining a welcoming and supportive team culture is at the core of everything we do. Our veterinarians and technicians have decades of combined experience made even more dynamic by our modern facilities, and access to continuing education opportunities.

The Practice Manager will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their clinic and a spectacular client experience. This role is a full-time position that reports to the Operations Director.

**Role Description**

We believe all our managers should embody key competencies; strategic thinking, courageous leadership, team building, operational accountability, and business acumen.

The Practice Manager (PM) is mainly responsible for the following three things: revenue growth, expense control and a stable human resources environment. This is accomplished by:

- Hiring and training top-notch team members, while also facilitating their own professional development
- Ensure consistency in our approach: all clients receive the same excellent customer service, and our policies are enforced uniformly
- Communication with our clients, including handling complaints and de-escalating negative experiences
- Always look for systematic issues, and look for ways to correct them through strategic planning and effective change management. It is the responsibility of the PM to ensure small problems do not become big ones through neglect
- Oversee creation of staff schedules to ensure efficiency
- Equipment management; ensure that equipment is being maintained on a proper schedule, limiting the requirement for repair and replacement
- Perform annual staff reviews in conjunction with your Operations Director, ensuring you’re using detailed feedback and specific examples. Ensure that employees feel as if they are being recognized sufficiently, criticized appropriately and development opportunities are well understood
- Ensure quick, consistent and thorough response to staff needs and demands. Even if you can’t get to something right away, indicate when they are to expect a response. Knowing they are supported is critical to clinic morale.
- Weekly reporting, cash balancing, and payroll submissions
- Occasional travel required for annual leadership conferences

Our practice managers are the most important role in our clinics, as they set the tone for the team and ensure our clients, patients, and people are all supported appropriately.

**Role Requirements**

We are looking for an experienced people leader; medical experience is not necessarily required. If you have a demonstrated history of effectively leading teams of 15-20 people, are comfortable leaning into tough conversations, and understand the importance of leveraging our network, we would love to hear from you

**Benefits**:

- Company events
- Dental care
- Employee assistance program
- Extended health care
- Paid time off
- RRSP match
- Generous Employee Pet Discount

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Leadership: 2 years (preferred)
- Human resources: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: on-site
- The Clinic managers are the gatekeepers of the clinic and they will be fully supported by the Operations Director, with access to different resources, including continuous training and development to support and ensure their success in managing the clinic.
