Reporting to the Manager of Student Recruitment Services, the Future Student Advisor represents and promotes CNC and its programs, services, awards and financial aid. The Future Student Advisor is a member of a highly motivated, professional recruitment team that is involved in recruitment planning, strategic development, and the implementation of approved activities in order to contribute to CNC's enrolment goals.

This position is responsible for supporting student recruitment activities from enquiry to acceptance into the College. Various recruitment methods will be utilized including: face-to-face presentations, email, the web, social networking sites, and other emerging technologies. As the critical link in establishing access to educational opportunities at CNC, the Future Student Advisor will develop relationships with prospective students to assist them in reaching their academic and career goals.

Specific Duties

Planning

  • Participates in the development of an annual recruitment plan that is designed to accomplish the goals established in the College Strategic Plan and Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) Plan.
  • Writes reports to identify trends, accomplishments, lessons learned and to make recommendations on future recruitment activities.
  • Prepares yearly comparative analysis reports or other reports as requested.

Recruitment Initiatives

  • Enhance the visibility of the College and inspire and motivate prospective students to become qualified and enrolled at CNC by promoting the College's academic programs and services through a variety of platforms including: face-to-face appointments, secondary school visits, campus tours, and college and community events.
  • Works closely with College staff, faculty, and administrators to assist applicants in becoming qualified applicants and enrolled at CNC.
  • Be aware of and work collaboratively with other Future Student Advisors, student affairs staff, and academic team members to meet institutional enrolment targets and objectives.
  • Delivers recruitment presentations in a variety of settings, utilizing a variety of tools and publications, to a range of audience sizes (from individual to small, medium and large groups).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders including parents and family members of prospective students, secondary school counsellors, teachers and staff, as well as valued community and industry partners.
  • Regularly monitor/analyze application reports, and contact unqualified and incomplete applicants with strategies and tactics that will enable prospects to become qualified applicants.
  • Coordinate CNC faculty classroom visits to secondary schools.
  • Responds to inquiries from prospective students in-person, through various technology including, but not limited to email, and phone.
  • Represents the College at external and internal events including Open Houses, career fairs, program discovery, Student for a Day, education seminars, and secondary school parent advisory groups.
  • Coordinates and attends secondary school visits.
  • Based on recruitment plans and goals, travels with the Post-Secondary British Columbia (PSBC) representatives and represents the College on the committee.
  • Provides prospective students with information on skills requirements and make recommendations for appropriate assessments, career exploration, and possible job visitations.
  • Coordinates recruitment activities with employment and transition agencies and other organizations throughout the community.
  • Work with admission staff to share knowledge of the recruitment process to support student enrolment outcomes.
  • Through self-directed learning and/or professional development, remain current with all policies, procedures and processes with respect to student recruitment, application process & admissions.
  • Participates in SEM committee work as assigned.

Research and Analysis

  • Generate and maintain statistics and track admission and registration activity in order to measure recruitment outcomes
  • Update, monitor, and track prospective student data, using that information to maintain consistent connection with prospective students and guide them through to acceptance.
  • Monitors changes to competitors' programs and promotional materials to ensure competitiveness of college programs.
  • Stays abreast of current market trends in the post-secondary sector and apply them to the Northern BC context where applicable.

Marketing and Communication

  • Assist in the production of social media marketing materials.
  • Plays an active role in the development of recruitment publications and resources.
  • Creates and maintains contact lists with secondary school counselors and teachers.
  • Assists in developing marketing plans and initiatives regarding student recruitment for different programming areas.
  • Works to create integrated communications plans to promote internal and external student events.

Tours and Events

  • Creates, schedules and conducts campus tours.
  • Plans and implements on-campus recruitment events (i.e. Open House and guidance counsellor update meetings).
  • Assists in the execution of other college student events (i.e. campus orientation and convocation).
  • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities.
  • You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) specializing in Business, Marketing or relevant field of study.
  • 2 years or more directly related experience in student recruitment, admissions, academic advising or related student services department, and/or marketing, communications or related communications services department

  • Familiarity with the secondary and post-secondary environment, as well as the life cycle of a student from recruitment to graduation is essential.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and promotional skills are required, including experience in public speaking with diverse and different sized audiences, both in-person and virtual.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to make effective recruitment presentations to groups of prospective students and their influencers, both in-person and virtually.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information and messaging well, with formal correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Working knowledge and experience with a Student Information System and Client Relationship Management system is an asset.
  • A high degree of initiative, organizational and time management skills, and problem-solving abilities are essential, with a strong orientation towards teamwork.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, good judgement and diplomacy.
  • A valid BC class 5 driver's license and a clear Criminal Records Check. Must be eligible to hold a valid passport and gain entry to foreign countries.
