High Tails Pet Resort is seeking an enthusiastic Dog Grooming Assistant to join our team. While this is an entry level position there will be multiple opportunities for huge professional growth and development. High Tails Pet Resort is known for excellence in stress reduction, superior client service and our ability to work with all breeds, sizes and temperaments.

Schedule is 8am to 4pm daily, Tuesday to Saturday until January then it will be Monday to Friday.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers in a friendly manner when you see them
  • Check dogs over thoroughly before grooming for any injuries or parasites
  • Bath and dry dogs thoroughly, dogs are rarely cage dried
  • Treat all animals in grooming salon with care and concern for well-being throughout their appointment
  • Ensure salon is cleaned and ready for use before you leave each day
  • Clean front area where customers enter and bathroom
  • Share work stations and assist grooming team whenever necessary
  • All other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year professional animal handling experience
  • Minimum of 1 year customer service experience
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Experienced with positive handling techniques and force free methods. A kind, gentle, patient and positive demeanour is a must
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Punctual, responsible, creative and passionate about grooming
  • Natural aptitude for cleanliness and organization
  • Dedicated to professional development and ongoing training
  • Must be able to build up client relationships and provide superior customer service
  • Open to coaching and a team player
  • Enthusiastic to work in a team environment where groomers assist one another with everything from holding a dog to having another groomer do a final check on a groom

What may be different than what you're used to?

  • We groom to owner's specifications
  • We help each hold/distract dogs (stress reduction for the dog and you)
  • We do a lot of table drying to get coat as straight as possible
  • We groom of lot farm dogs and large dogs
  • We do a lot of hand-scissoring
  • We work with all temperaments
