As our next co-op student, you'll be at the forefront of perform the duties of the position for the production of products for our customers. Work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and comply with all Johnson Electric's Health & Safety policies, procedures and quality systems. Working knowledge with SPS, 5S and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are required. What You'll Be Doing:
- Ensure machines are setup to machine the required parts
- Install and remove spindle chucks, collets, drawbars, spindle adaptors and cutting tools as necessary
- Index cutting inserts and make size change adjustments to machines as required
- Load and unload parts on machines to maintain required production levels
- Chart SPC data as determined by process sheet specifications
- Ensure that the requirements of the Quality Management System an Environmental Health & Safety Systems are met.
- Other duties as required.
What We're Looking For:
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Computer Numerical Control Machining Program Certificate in progress
Qualifications:
- Must have working knowledge of machining principles and practices
- Familiar with CNC controls and programming techniques
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, in the automotive industry is an asset
- Good mathematical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of conventional machine methods is an asset
- Good interpersonal skills. Able to work well independently or in a team environment
- Good communication skills
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment while maintaining quality
Language Skills:
- Proficient in English (both spoken and written)
Work Environment (including Physical Demands):
- Work indoors. Environment can be noisy and dealing with different temperatures (i.e extreme heat)
- Ability to lift a maximum of 30lbs
- Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights or continental
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time
- Able to work overtime when required/requested
