As a Business and Data Analyst, you will analyze quantitative data to provide insight, recommendations and solutions to support ongoing strategic and operational decisions in Calgary Transit. You will identify and explain trends, maintain and execute recurring and ad-hoc reports, and develop models, forecasts and business cases. Primary duties include:

  • Support data-driven decision making by conducting data modelling, analysis, and forecasts.
  • Continuously monitor and audit data quality and integrity, identifying and addressing data anomalies and inconsistencies.
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence products that deliver actionable insights.
  • Provide in depth analysis, recommendations and written reports for specific proposals and initiatives including business cases and strategic plans.
  • Support and participate in projects and working groups for Calgary Transit, the City of Calgary, other transit agencies and external groups including research institutions and industry groups.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Business, Applied Science, Mathematics or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience related to data analysis, statistical analysis, data visualization, strategic business planning, project management, customer service and experience in a large organization with diverse businesses.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and experience with Business Intelligence tools and SQL language is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate) and SAP business intelligence (for example, Crystal Reports) will also be an asset.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
