The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Manager, Data Analytics and Reporting to join our IT (Information Technology) team in team in Toronto, ON. This is a permanent, hybrid position.
As the Manager, Data Analytics and Reporting , you will lead the strategy, design, and delivery of enterprise-wide analytics and reporting solutions that drive operational excellence across Vale Base Metals. Your experience and skills will enable you to partner with business units, translate complex data into actionable insights, and build a high-performing analytics team that supports data-driven decision-making across the mining value chain.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Develop and execute VBM's enterprise-wide data analytics strategy, ensuring consistency and standardization across corporate functions, mine sites, and processing facilities.
- Lead the design, deployment, and sustainment of reporting platforms and advanced analytics solutions that drive operational efficiency and influence production KPIs.
- Oversee the collection, processing, and interpretation of large industrial datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity, and applying statistical and machine learning methods to solve business challenges.
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with mining industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Partner with corporate and asset leadership to identify and prioritize analytics opportunities, translating technical solutions into tangible business outcomes.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts, BI developers, and data modelers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
About You
Education:
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or a related field is required.
- A Master's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Professional certification in data management or advanced analytics is considered an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years' experience in data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in mining, heavy industry, or industrial operations is preferred.
Skills:
- Proven ability to develop and implement data analytics strategies that drive business value.
- Advanced proficiency in reporting platforms (Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud) and integrating with enterprise systems.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and compliance in a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience building and validating predictive models, process optimization algorithms, and KPI-driven analytics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
