Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. The Maintenance Assistant will support the Facilities Manager in ensuring that the residence is well-maintained, safe, and operates smoothly. This role is critical in providing a pleasant environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance: Assist with the regular maintenance and repair of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct routine inspections to identify and address any potential safety hazards or maintenance issues.
  • General Repairs: Perform minor repairs such as painting, patching walls, and fixing door handles, as needed.
  • Groundskeeping: Help maintain the outdoor areas, ensuring they are tidy, safe, and accessible.
  • Light Landscaping and Gardening: Participate in light landscaping and gardening tasks to enhance the beauty and functionality of the residence's grounds.
  • Equipment Management: Assist in the maintenance and organization of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Emergency Response: Provide support during emergency maintenance situations, ensuring quick and efficient resolution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and other staff to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Prior experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

  • Flexible schedule of 30 hours bi-weekly.
  • Ability to respond to occasional after-hours emergencies is a plus.
