Job Title: Coordinator, Youth & Adult HSF Programs

Reports to: Manager, HSF

Location: Cor Van Raay YMCA at Cavendish Farms Centre

Job Summary

The Coordinator, HSF Programs serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge by supporting the operations of the HSF team, including the fitness floor and the fieldhouse. The main goals of this position are:

  1. Provide partnership and youth & adult program opportunities in the fieldhouse.

  2. Implement and inform Youth & Adult HSF Programs as developed by the HSF Manager.

  3. Complete administrative tasks to support the functions of the team.

  4. Salary $50, ,000 Annual

Nature & Scope

The Coordinator, Youth & Adult HSF Programs will support the HSF team. The major responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to:

Leadership and Strategic Planning

· Exemplify the YMCA of Lethbridge's Core Values of caring, honesty, inclusiveness, respect, and responsibility.

· Promote a positive, inclusive work environment, responding to general inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner and in accordance with Association policies and guidelines.

· Be a YMCA ambassador by engaging in and promoting practices and frameworks which ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

· Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, incident management and emergency response within the HSF team.

· Effectively communicate information exchange with internal and external stakeholders.

Organizational and Department Management

· Implement, lead, and evaluate youth & adult programs.

· Support the supervision of HSF Attendants, volunteers, and practicum students.

· Contribute to program quality and safety by supporting HSF Attendants and sport coaches in planning and programming.

· Contribute to the completion of administrative duties when assigned.

· Collaborate with other departments for program space usage.

· Identify community needs through statistical tracking and present trends to guide future implementations.

· Be aware of the mandatory certifications of HSF Attendants, Group Fitness Instructors, and Volunteers.

· Carry out tasks requiring a reasonable degree of concentration and the need to assess options or evaluate past practices using analytical methods and processes.

· Support, coach, evaluate, and instruct HSF classes.

· Model best practices, upholding high standards for excellence in team implementations.

· Collaborate with the HSF manager to develop and evaluate HSF programming to meet team goals and community needs.

· Support the drop-in fitness classes, programs, and floor duties as required.

· Plan and program fitness and fieldhouse events.

· Work in usually standardized conditions, under occasional supervision, with choice of action within defined limits to make progress towards assigned objectives.

· Attend all required YMCA trainings and recertifications.

Financial Management and Philanthropic Involvement

· Model the Association's dedication to philanthropy.

· Participate in Fund Development Initiatives to further the impact of team efforts.

· Adhere to the team's annual budget, managing expenses within your area and ensuring proper coding and documentation is provided.

External Relations and Advocacy

· Foster relationships in the community by supporting partnership development where appropriate and acting as an ambassador for the Association's core programs.

· Role model team initiatives and projects within the Association.

· Follow policies regarding confidentiality to safeguard data and information and handle sensitive information with a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality, in addition to all Association policies and guidelines.

· Participate in external growth opportunities in alignment with team goals.

Physical/Special Demands

  • This position involves the ability to lift 20 kgs
  • This position involves active instruction and coaching of youth & adult programs

Qualifications and Experience

· Certificate program in Fitness, such as Group Fitness certificate, is required

· Up to 1 year of practical or lived experience is required

· Intermediate First Aid and CPR-C is required

· Intermediate to expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite programs is required

· Previous non-profit experience is considered an asset

· Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check and Child Intervention Check

· Three professional references are required
